Visa and Maya, the digital financial services platform, have now enabled Maya wallet cards for Google Wallet and Google Pay, letting customers add every Maya Visa card they hold, credit or wallet, physical or virtual, to the digital wallet on their phone.
The rollout was announced earlier this week, and it widens the footprint of Google Pay in the Philippines, which the digital financial services platform first opened for credit cardholders in November 2025.

With these wallet cards now switched on, its users can tap Google Pay at shops, on public transport, and at tourist destinations using the phones and devices they already carry. This gives customers more ways to pay while encouraging merchants to accept digital payments.
“The Philippines is undergoing a rapid shift to contactless, digital payments, and Visa and Maya are playing a crucial role in enabling this transformation. With every contactless transaction, we provide speed, convenience, and security for Filipino consumers, reinforcing adoption and trust in new payment technologies. This also aligns closely with the government’s vision to become a cash-lite economy,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Philippines Country Manager.
Tokens Behind Every Tap
Google Pay transactions on Maya Visa cards run on Visa’s tokenization technology. Tokens replace the actual card number with a unique digital string, so a cardholder’s real account details are never shared with merchants or stored on the device. Visa said the setup helps cut fraud and keeps sensitive card information out of the payment chain.
“At Maya, we are committed to giving our customers smarter and more convenient ways to manage their money and pay for everyday purchases. Enabling Google Pay for Maya Visa wallet cards extends the simplicity and flexibility our users expect, allowing them to make secure contactless payments using the mobile phones and devices they already use every day,” said Shailesh Baidwan, Maya Group President and Maya Bank Co-Founder.
Contactless is Becoming the Default
Visa’s 2026 Consumer 360 survey of 16,250 consumers across 17 Asia Pacific markets found that more than 71% already prefer a phone or smart device for in-store and online payments. Visa’s travel research puts the appetite for cards even higher: 97% of travelers in the region say they want to pay with credit, debit, or prepaid cards on a trip, and only 17% plan to bring cash.
Both companies frame the rollout as groundwork for the government’s cash-lite target, and Maya has made digital finance infrastructure a priority in the region.
For Filipino users, the practical change is simple: any Maya Visa card can now live in Google Wallet, ready to be tapped wherever Google Pay Philippines payments are accepted.
