Samsung P7 portable SSD with USB4
Samsung Electronics has introduced its next-generation portable solid-state drives, headlined by the P7, which the company bills as the world’s first 8TB USB4 portable SSD with speeds up to 4,000MB/s. The new P Series was shown at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, which ran from August 26 to 30.
Powered by USB4 technology, the P7 is built for fast and convenient storage across work, entertainment, and everyday use. It offers broad compatibility with desktops, laptops, smartphones, gaming consoles, and cameras, and has completed 2-meter drop testing along with shock and vibration durability testing for use during travel and other mobile environments.
“As AI-powered content creation and ultra-high-resolution video make large amounts of data part of everyday life, users increasingly expect faster and more reliable storage experiences,” said Tommy Kwon, Vice President and Head of Brand Product Biz Team at Samsung Electronics. “With fast file storage and backup, the P Series is designed to provide professionals and everyday users alike with the performance they need to work efficiently across a wide range of applications.”
Pricing and availability
The Samsung P7 SSD will be available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB capacities, with a global rollout beginning August 31. In the Philippines, the series will be available starting early November through Samsung’s official stores on Lazada and Shopee.
Samsung said the new drives are designed to meet growing storage demands driven by ultra-high-resolution video, AI content, and large-scale games, including direct recording of 12K footage.
The Samsung P7 SSD will be available in 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB.
