Ahead of its official Kickstarter launch tomorrow, hardware creator GENKI has unveiled the final room of its virtual controller museum, targeting four decades of stagnant face-button design.

While ABXY buttons have relied on traditional rubber membranes since the NES era, Manta aims to eliminate physical movement latency. The company’s “Pulse Buttons” continuously track the entire travel of all four face buttons from initial touch to bottoming out.

Unlike standard switches with fixed contact points, players can customize the exact actuation depth and reset point. Gamers can set high actuation for rapid-fire speed or deeper travel for deliberate inputs, reducing the physical delay.

Additionally, full-travel sensing allows standard ABXY buttons to act like analog triggers. This provides proportional throttle and braking control across games without requiring native developer support.
