At The Android Show I/O Edition, Google introduced new AI-powered video editing tools that may be introduced with Android 17.
New Video Editing Tools with Android 17
React in the Moment with Screen Reactions
One of these features is Screen Reactions, a quick way to record yourself and your screen at the same time. Google claims that it is done in a few taps.

The feature allows you to overlay your response directly onto trending clips, wild comment sections, or your latest wish list.
The feature will first roll out on Pixel devices this summer.
Maximize Your Creativity and Optimize Pro-grade Video
Google also shared that the Adobe Premiere app is coming to Android this summer. This will give you access to exclusive templates and effects to create and post YouTube Shorts from the app.
Additionally, APV (Advanced Professional Video), the industry’s most storage-efficient professional video format and co-developed with Samsung, will be coming to more Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered flagship devices later this year. The format is currently available on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra and the vivo X300 Ultra.
A More Vibrant Instagram Experience
Google has also teamed up with Meta to bring the best of Instagram to the most advanced Android devices.
This includes:
- Ultra HDR capture and playback
- Built-in video stabilization
- Night sight integrations
Android 17 will also come with an optimized capture-to-upload pipeline to ensure your photos and videos remain sharp when you hit post.
Refine Faster with Edits App
There will also be new tools for the Instagram Edits app, exclusive to Android. These features turn raw footage into polished content in seconds using on-device AI.

These are:
- Smart enhance – instantly upscale your photos and videos with advanced on-device AI
- Sound separation – the Edits app will now identify and separate audio tracks, allowing you to boost the sounds that you want and remove what you don’t

Moreover, Instagram has also been optimized for the larger screens of tablets.
