DJI Osmo Mobile 8 Sets the Bar Even Higher
The DJI Osmo Mobile 8 brings a new level of convenience and performance to creators who want stability, better tracking, and smarter shooting features in a smartphone gimbal. Compared to last year’s Osmo Mobile 7P, several key improvements make the Osmo Mobile 8 stand out for both casual shooters and serious content creators.

Multi-Functional Tracking Module
The updated Multi-Functional Tracking Module is the most remarkable upgrade. It can track people or pets, not just in the DJI Mimo app but also in third-party or native camera apps. For iPhone users, Apple DockKit support allows quick NFC pairing, so you can control the gimbal directly from your phone’s own camera or other social media apps. This direct compatibility is a major leap for those who switch between platforms or need instant subject tracking in live broadcasts or meetings.

360° pan rotation, finally
The Osmo Mobile 8 also introduces seamless 360° pan rotation. With a double push on the joystick, the gimbal can rotate smoothly, allowing you to capture every angle in large gatherings, events, or scenes where movement is key. This rotational freedom sets it apart for creative filming, making it possible to track dancing, sports, or simple family moments.
Low-angle Shooting
Comfort gets a boost with the new grip design. Shooting low-angle videos is much easier and more comfortable, which matters when you’re documenting pets, children, or streetlife. The extension rod and tripod are now built-in, making it more flexible to set up for steady shots, time-lapses, or group photos.
It’s also a powerbank!
The battery system is another highlight. With 10 hours of operating time, Osmo Mobile 8 supports reverse charging—if your phone runs low, you can power it up straight from your gimbal. For heavy users shooting outdoors, you can also attach a power bank to the unit, extending battery life further. This means you no longer need to worry about missing out on footage due to a dead phone battery.
Works with DJI Mic Transmitters
Audio and lighting get smarter. The integrated receiver works with DJI Mic transmitters, allowing up to two active microphone channels at once. The fill light is built into the tracking module, with easy control over brightness and temperature using the side wheel. These enhancements are especially useful for interviews, travel vlogs, or shooting in low light, where clear sound and flexible lighting are critical.

One-tap editing and tutorials via the DJI Mimo app make content creation less intimidating, letting users get quick guidance on shooting techniques and automatically produce finished videos from clips. The app now supports intelligent scene detection, optimizing for different environments.
Compared to Osmo Mobile 7P, the Osmo Mobile 8 significantly grows in several areas:
- Tracking: While the 7P offered ActiveTrack 7.0, Osmo Mobile 8 expands with a multi-functional module for tracking across more apps and devices, including native third-party compatibility and more flexible trigger options.
- Grip and Rotation: The ultra-comfortable grip and seamless 360° pan add shooting freedom, missing in the 7P which provided a standard grip and restricted rotation axes.
- Audio and Lighting: The new module’s audio and fill light integration mean higher production value content without extra gear.
- Battery Life: Reverse charging and external power bank support help users capture longer sessions, improving robustness for travel or extended recording.
- Extension Features: Built-in extension rod and tripod make setup easier, while broader compatibility for Android and new accessories like MagSafe clamps enhance flexibility.
Osmo Mobile 8 is made for users who want smarter tracking, more shooting angles, and simplicity in content creation. Its upgraded stability, tracking, and accessory ecosystem mark a clear evolution over the Osmo Mobile 7P.
