GPD, a popular maker of gaming handhelds has just teased the upcoming arrival of its newest creation, the GPD WIN 5.
GPD WIN 5
The GPD WIN 5 will be the first gaming handheld that utilizes an AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 395 based on the Strix Halo architecture and utilizing Zen 5 CPU cores and RDNA 3.5 graphics, (a Radeon 8060S iGPU, which is something you’ll apparently find in high-end mini PCs like the GMKtec EVO-X2)

According to notebookcheck, this CPU and GPU pairing matches the performance of an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU in both synthetic and gaming benchmarks. So imagine that power in a handheld. Crazy, right?
But yes, it looks like that is a reality now, as GPD showcased the GPD WIN 5’s performance in a short video with Black Myth: Wukong running at around 160+ to 200+ fps and using around 55W+ of CPU power.
Thermals were at around the 60°C+ range, considering that all this hardware is in a compact package. Of course, we are missing some details such as the resolution, or the game settings, but hey, this is still impressive.
GPD is somewhat keeping the design in wraps, though a circular part is clearly visible on the lower left side. But those who are waiting for this won’t have to wait for long, as the GPD WIN 5 is expected to make its debut during ChinaJoy 2025 which is scheduled for August 1 to 4 in Shanghai, China.
