Microsoft and Surface have expanded their Copilot+ PC family with two new additions: the Surface Laptop, 13-inch starting at USD 899 and Surface Pro, 12-inch starting at USD 799. These new devices are designed with performance and portability in mind, bringing ultra-thin, lightweight and powerful Copilot+ PCs to consumers at lower price points.
The New Surface Laptop, 13-inch

The Surface Laptop, 13-inch is Microsoft’s thinnest and lightest Surface Laptop to date. Available starting May 20, 2025, with prices beginning at USD 899, this device is crafted for portability while maintaining high performance standards.
The new laptop features a premium anodized aluminum chassis and comes in three colors: Ocean, Violet, and Platinum. It is smaller than a standard notebook, making it easy to transport. For a coordinated look, users can pair the device with the Surface Arc Mouse, now available in matching Ocean and Violet colors.

Powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with an integrated 45 TOPS NPU, the Surface Laptop, 13-inch is 50% faster than the Surface Laptop 5 and outperforms the MacBook Air M3. It offers exceptional battery life, with up to 23 hours of video playback and up to 16 hours of active web browsing. Universal USB-C fast charging ensures users can stay powered up while on the move.
The laptop boasts a 13-inch full HD touchscreen display with ultra-thin bezels and includes an AI-enhanced camera with Auto Video HDR and noise reduction for improved video conferencing. The device’s keyboard is designed for quiet, comfortable typing, while a fingerprint reader built into the power button allows for a secure sign-in. The Copilot key gives users immediate access to AI features, while a customizable precision touchpad offers adaptive touch mode for intuitive navigation.
The Surface Laptop contains 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell and 100% recycled rare earth metals in the magnets. Many components can also be replaced by authorized service providers or skilled technicians.
The New Surface Pro, 12-inch

The Surface Pro, 12-inch retains the versatility of its 2-in-1 form factor while still offering enhanced features. With prices beginning at USD 799, this device functions as both a laptop and a tablet.
The Surface Pro utilizes a built-in adjustable kickstand and features a Surface Slim Pen that magnetically attaches to the back of the tablet for charging and storage. It is designed for creativity, allowing users to type, write, and draw on a single device.

Like the Surface Laptop, the Surface Pro is powered by the Snapdragon X Plus processor with a 45 TOPS NPU. It weighs just 1.5 pounds, making it highly portable while still delivering fast performance and all-day battery life.
The redesigned Surface Pro 12-inch Keyboard lets you transform the tablet into a laptop. It attaches easily and lies flat for a stable typing experience, featuring a smooth-matte palm rest, full-size backlit keys, and a customizable precision touchpad with adaptive touch mode. The keyboard now folds back completely flat against the Surface Pro, enabling comfortable sketching or writing. Available in Slate, Ocean, and Violet, the keyboard includes dedicated keys like the Copilot key and lock key.
The Surface Pro contains 82.9% recycled content in the enclosure and 100% recycled cobalt in the battery cell—a first for the Pro line. Like the Surface Laptop, many components are designed to be replaceable by skilled technicians or authorized service providers.
AI Experiences and Capabilities
Both new Surface devices are Copilot+ PCs, unlocking AI tools that work alongside users to enhance productivity. Current and upcoming Copilot+ PC experiences include:
- A new agent in Settings that allows users to describe issues in their own words and receive recommendations or have actions completed automatically (currently rolling out to Windows Insiders)
- Photos Relight, bringing professional-grade lighting effects to pictures
- Third-party applications that leverage the NPU for enhanced performance, such as Moises Live by Music.AI for real-time audio separation and Gigapixel AI by Topaz Labs for high-quality image upscaling
“We are excited to continue to partner with Microsoft as we expand the Snapdragon Copilot+ PC ecosystem to include Surface Laptop and Surface Pro. Both devices are powered by Snapdragon X Plus (8-core) and a 45 TOPS NPU, delivering the performance, speed and battery life customers expect, alongside exclusive AI experiences designed to streamline workflows and help users focus on what matters most.”
