Apple has reportedly finalized its display supplier for its highly anticipated first foldable iPhone, slated for release in the latter half of next year. According to BusinessKorea’s report, Samsung Display has secured an exclusive contract to provide the OLED panels, notably sidelining competitors LG Display and China’s BOE.
Apple Foldable Coming Next Year
This decision underscores Samsung’s leading position in foldable display technology, particularly in minimizing the crease that has plagued early foldable devices. Samsung is expected to begin supplying specialized panels on a full-scale basis by late 2025 or early 2026.

Moreover, the foldable iPhone is rumored to feature a premium 7.8-inch internal OLED display, akin to the iPad Mini, coupled with a 5.5-inch external OLED screen. With an expected price point of around $2,000, it will directly challenge Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold series.
Apple’s reliance on a single supplier departs from its usual multi-vendor strategy. Insiders suggest that Samsung’s six years of expertise in the foldable market since the 2019 launch of the original Galaxy Fold proved decisive. “For Apple, quality trumps price,” an industry expert noted.
Lastly, Samsung Display’s foldable OLED market share is expected to rise from 40% to 70% next year, with initial estimates of 9 million units potentially reaching over 15 million. Apple’s entry into the foldable market is expected to generate excitement, especially among affluent North American consumers, and inject new momentum into the broader foldable phone market.
