OpenAI unveiled GPT-4.5, the latest and most advanced chat model with enhanced emotional intelligence (EQ) and more.

GPT-4.5 offers a broader knowledge base and improved ability to follow your intent thanks to it being built on advancements in pre-training and post-training.
It trained on Microsoft Azure AI supercomputers and leverages increased compute power, data, and architectural innovations, which in turn offers deeper world knowledge and better reliability in different topics. Moreover, it makes the model more reliable for tasks like writing, programming, and problem-solving.
OpenAI shared two approaches to advancing AI capabilities namely unsupervised learning and reasoning.
- Unsupervised learning – enhances the model’s intuition and world understanding
- Scaling reasoning – models like OpenAI 01 and 03-mini focus on teaching AI to think through problems step-by-step
The combination of this allows the new model to reach a balance of creativity and factual accuracy. Because of this, GPT-4.5 excels in tasks requiring creativity, nuanced understanding, and collaboration.
It supports search, file, and image uploads, and canvas features. However, it does not yet include multimodal capabilities like Voice Mode, video, and screen sharing in ChatGPT.
OpenAI emphasized on safety improvements in GPT-4.5 by combining traditional supervised fine-tuning (SFT) with reinforcement learning from human feedback (RLHF). The new model went through rigorous safety testing under the company’s Preparedness Framework.
GPT-4.5 is now available to users of ChatGPT Pro on web, mobile, and desktop. The company has confirmed that it will roll out to Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu users in the following weeks.
