Build Quality and Small Changes from Previous Generation
The design of the Osmo Mobile 7P and 7 follows the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy, maintaining the sleek and compact form that users have come to love. However, DJI has made thoughtful adjustments to accommodate heavier smartphones, ensuring that the gimbal can handle a wider range of devices without compromising stability.
The fourth-generation magnetic phone clamp offers broader compatibility, supporting more large-lens Android phones. This provides an easy and one-step solution to users regardless of smartphone being attached to the gimbal.
Extension Rod Returns
One of the best features of the previous generation – and now returning on the Osmo Mobile 7P is the rthe extension rod. This addition allows for more creative freedom, enabling users to capture low-angle shots or take selfies with ease.
The extension rod is particularly useful in scenarios like pet photography or group gatherings, where you might need a bit more reach.
Multifunctional Module Comes to the Picture
The multifunctional module is a game-changer for the Osmo Mobile 7P. It integrates native AI tracking, a built-in receiver for the DJI Mic Mini, and adjustable lighting with four levels of color temperature and brightness. This module is included with the Osmo Mobile 7P but can be purchased separately for the Osmo Mobile 7, making it accessible to users on a tighter budget. DJI Philippines has not yet determined the price of the extra module.

While the DJI Mimo app doesn’t support shooting in LOG format, the multifunctional module ensures that you can still leverage advanced tracking capabilities even when using other apps.
Moreover, the seamless integration with the DJI Mic Mini enhances audio quality significantly. In my experience, using the Mic Mini with the built-in receiver on the Osmo Mobile 7P results in superior audio capture compared to relying on the smartphone’s microphone alone or by just simply connecting the DJI Mic Mini directly to the phone via Bluetooth. This feature alone justifies the premium price of the Osmo Mobile 7P over the standard Osmo Mobile 7.
Excellent Stabilization
Stabilization is where the Osmo Mobile series truly shines. The three-axis stabilization on both models provides incredibly smooth footage, even in the most challenging conditions. Couple this with your phone’s built-in stabilization features, and what you get are very stable video shots.
However, it’s worth noting that unlike some other gimbals, such as the HOHEM M7, the Osmo Mobile 7P does not offer infinite rotation or roll. If your subject moves beyond the gimbal’s range, it will stop and alert you.
Versatility – Used on iPhone 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 Ultra
One of the strengths of the Osmo Mobile 7P is its versatility. I had the opportunity to test it with both the iPhone 16 Pro Max and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it performed admirably with both devices.
The gimbal’s ability to accommodate a wide range of smartphones makes it an excellent choice for users who might switch between different devices or prefer to use their existing phone.
A More Pro Level Experience if You Have a Flagship Phone
For users with flagship smartphones, the Osmo Mobile 7P offers a more professional-level experience. The combination of advanced stabilization, AI tracking, and high-quality audio capture makes it an ideal tool for content creators who demand more from their mobile shooting setup. While the DJI Mimo app doesn’t support LOG shooting, the ability to use native apps with the multifunctional module’s tracking features is a significant advantage.
While some DJI fans already have an Osmo Pocket 3 for content creation or by just simply documenting their travels, having an Osmo Mobile 7 or 7P is an excellent way to maximize your flagship smartphone. This gives a plethora of options for you to shoot your videos with far better quality, albeit with a bigger setup.
Pricing is Excellent
The pricing of both models is competitive, with the Osmo Mobile 7P retailing at PHP 7,499 and the Osmo Mobile 7 at PHP 4,599. For those who can afford the premium, the Osmo Mobile 7P offers substantial value with its included multifunctional module and extension rod. However, for beginners or those on a tighter budget, the Osmo Mobile 7 provides an excellent entry point into smartphone stabilization without sacrificing core features.
Our Verdict
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7P is a gimbal that checks all the right boxes for both beginners and seasoned content creators.
