Searchabull’s findings, which cover the period up to March, reveal some intriguing shifts in the smartphone market, with both established and newer players experiencing varying degrees of success.

HONOR’s Remarkable Rise

HONOR’s impressive performance in search growth highlights the brand’s growing popularity and consumer interest. This achievement is particularly noteworthy given the intense competition in the smartphone industry.

Mike Washington, a spokesperson for Searchabull, emphasized the significance of HONOR’s success, stating, “HONOR’s position in the top three for search growth across Europe and the USA is a testament to the brand’s ability to capture consumer attention and interest.”

Contrasting Fortunes for Industry Giants

The report also shed light on the contrasting fortunes of industry giants Apple and Samsung. While Apple was either the fastest-growing brand or among the two biggest declines, depending on the market, Samsung faced challenges in most regions following the launch of its S24 series yet emerged to regain its top position in terms of Global Smartphone Shipments in Q1 2024 According to IDC Tracker.

Washington commented on these findings, saying, “It’s interesting to see that fewer people are searching for the big two brands, Apple and Samsung, and starting to look elsewhere. However, it’s unlikely that this fall in search growth signals an immediate drop in sales for these industry leaders.”

Pixel’s Steady Performance and Blackberry’s Surprise

Google’s Pixel brand maintained a steady performance, although its growth has slowed recently, according to the report. Surprisingly, Blackberry, a once-prominent name in the smartphone industry, experienced a resurgence in search growth in the UK and USA, albeit remaining a niche player overall.

Meanwhile, while reports are still being closely monitored, Google seems to be in discussion with local telcos like Smart Communications Inc., about the local release or 5G compatibility to select Google Pixel devices. Gadget Pilipinas is currently monitoring consumer reports about this as of the moment.

Nothing’s Intriguing Case Study

The report also highlighted the performance of Nothing, a relatively new entrant in the smartphone market. Nothing Phone is locally available in the Philippines thru Digits Trading.
