Update: Maya has issued its official statement regarding the matter and clarified that only payments made via Maya-enrolled mobile numbers will not be available. Users can still use their Maya virtual or physical card number to pay for Apple’s services.

Soon, Maya users will need to find another way to pay for their Apple subscriptions, as it will no longer be available as a payment method for the brand’s services and platforms.

Apple Removes Maya as Payment Method

An email we’ve received today states that Starting August 16, Maya will be removed as a payment method from our Apple ID, and that it will no longer be used for digital purchases on the App Store or iTunes Store.

There was also a reminder to set an alternative payment method, otherwise, our subscriptions will expire. It is not clear as to why Apple has decided to remove Maya as a payment method, or if this measure is only temporary or permanent.
