AirAsia CEO Reveals Plans to Launch a Ride-Hailing Service Locally

AirAsia’s CEO Tony Fernandes is planning to bring a ride-hailing firm here in the Philippines with the aim to challenge Grab’s presence in the country.

Tony met with the transport secretary Jaime Bautista and said that “We want to launch our ride-hailing services here and provide some competition to Grab we think we will be more affordable and obviously we can make a huge dent at airports.”

He also stated that the company’s goal to recruit full-time drivers who are eligible for perks like insurance makes its ride-hailing business model distinct from others and hopefully in the next few years, may provide up to 2,000 jobs for Filipinos if successful.

Furthermore, the CEO said that this plan will come soon and that the company is ready to invest heavily in the Philippines.
