Xiaomi has revealed a new Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept phone that blurs the line between smartphones and digital cameras.

This concept phone features a second 1-inch sensor that is covered by sapphire glass for protection. This then allows you to attach a Leica M mount lens making it a semi-professional hybrid camera.

Aside from a wide variety of lenses it also has an advanced camera app that has support for focus peaking, zebra lines, a histogram, 10-bit RAW support, and other tools that photographers need.

However, the concept phone uses an adapter making it bulky but you can still opt to use the secondary 1-inch sensor that has the same main camera as the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and also the same ultrawide lens.

There have been lens accessories that were released before but did not really deliver in terms of quality. Leica’s lens combined with Xiaomi’s concept is different because it sends light directly into the sensor which makes it function like a 1-inch mirrorless camera.

Moreover, the image quality is further enhanced with the help of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood.

As of now, details of this concept device are scarce but based on the images provided it may look similar to the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and it even has a faux leather back and IP68 dust and water resistance.

Hopefully, we get to know more about this concept phone from Xiaomi in the following months to come.
