Apple has just introduced the new iPhone SE at the Peek Performance launch event. Alongside the new iPhone, the company debuted the new iPad Air, the M1 Ultra chipset, Mac Studio, and Studio Display.

iPhone SE 2022 - glass

The refreshed SE is built around the same 4.7-inch panel with the familiar Home button upfront as its predecessor. Additionally, its front and back are protected by the same glass used on the iPhone 13 series.

The biggest upgrade though is in the chipset department. It is upgraded to an A15 Bionic chip that arrived with the iPhone 13. The A15 Bionic chip features a 6-core CPU, a 4-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine. In addition to the new chipset is the support for 5G connectivity.

iPhone SE 2022 - features

In the optics department, the refreshed device has a 12MP wide camera around the back with Smart HDR 4, Photographic Styles, Deep Fusion, and Portrait mode. Smart HDR 4 uses intelligent segmentation to apply different adjustments for color, contrast, and noise to the subject versus the background.

It also runs on iOS 15 out of the box.
