The Department of Health (DOH) has recently released its ‘Request for Best and Final Offer’ document for 4 High-end 2-in-1 laptops with accessories for PHP 700,000.

As you scroll down the document, you see the detailed technical specification for the said laptops. Some of the specs detailed in the document include at least a 10th Generation Intel Core i5 processor, at least Intel UHD Graphics, at least 8GB LPDDR3 RAM, and at least 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD.

DOH-laptop specs

Based on the minimum specs, it doesn’t sound too high-end. The minimum specs seem more akin to a regular office laptop or one for online classes than anything high-end.

According to a report from Inquirer, the agency’s spokesperson will explain its procurement of the four “high end” laptops “in proper channels”.

“Kasama po ‘yan sa isasagot natin ano, dito po sa mga COA audit reports na binigay sa atin,” said Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire in a public forum. “We will be answering that in the proper channels,” she added.

We’re interested to hear what DOH has to say. PHP 175,000 for a laptop is a lot and we’d like to hear what such a ‘high-end’ laptop will be used for.

You can check out the full document here.

Update as of August 8, 2021: According to a report from Inquirer, DOH has cancelled the procurement of the four laptops. No reason was given though.
