78% of our readers at Gadget Pilipinas is part of the millennial generation. 35% of our country is part of a generational group that’s 15-34. It is also the generation, which is often negatively stereotyped: impatient, entitled, “narcissistic”, etc. Why is it that the generation that is expected to propel the country’s workforce and the economy seemed to have such negative dispositions and values? Are we soon going the lead by a generation that only think of themselves?

This same stereotype and myths are being challenged by the country’s forward-looking fintech, PayMaya, through their latest #NowNation campaign. The latter, which they aptly called “Millennials Beyond the Selfie” has a specific goal of dispelling the negative connotations about the said generation, and eventually uplift and empower the young Filipinos in order to unwillingly passion their passions while helping the country.

According to PayMaya Philippines co-COO Benjie S. Fernandez, “Millennials are often labeled as entitled, shallow, and self-centered. But we know that this is not true. They have a passionate purpose, they have creative imagination, and most of all, they are not afraid to take action and execute their aspiration no matter how niche or risky it may be in the eyes of others.”

For the campaign, PayMaya introduced new brand ambassadors who are redefining their generation. They are: The Phenom with a Purpose Alyssa Valdez, The Expat Community Builder Louis Faure, The Philippine eSports Champions TNC Pro Team, The Pinay Solo Backpacker Gael Hilotin, The Mural Master Jappy Agoncillo, The Artsy Mom Ava Te-Zabat, and The Online Jill of All Trades Wiji Lacsamana.
