I’ve finally given up using Iphone. I just woke up one day and thought that I already want a different tech life.

3 years with the Apple Iphone was a great tech experience. Sometimes, I would wake up in the morning, turn on my wifi and finally browse the internet using Safari. It was a buggy Safari at first but eventually turned great afterward. Thanks to Apple’s plethora of firmware updates.

Being one of the first few ones to have owned an Iphone in the Philippines was a humbling yet a difficult experience. I would most of the time find myself checking the internet for firmware developments and exciting homebrew and legit applications and games. Yes, I used a jailbroken 2G Iphone for several years. By ‘Jailbroken Iphone’ I mean an Iphone with a customized firmware and hacked bootloader to remove the network’s exclusivity to AT&T (and eventually to Globe). It wasn’t an easy experience because every time a new firmware is released, Iphone hackers would prowl and stealthily create a way for Iphone users to jailbreak their Iphones with the latest firmware in it. Iphone users who didn’t have the money to get a contract with AT&T loved every codes and applications those hackers released. Weeks ago, I bid goodbye to my Iphone and I’ve never felt better and more… free.

Just recently, Nokia unveiled its latest smartphone, I mean, MID (mobile internet device), the Nokia N900. It’s the successor to the line of MIDs released by Nokia – N770, N800 and N810. It prompted me to think that finally, my Iphone now has a worthy replacement.
