With conversational capabilities that go much beyond anything we’ve seen previously, ChatGPT has completely taken over the IT world. Currently, a new version – Chat GPT-4 is now here.
The popular chatbot’s interface is built on OpenAI’s GPT-3, which is one of the most sophisticated and expansive language models ever made. It was trained using 175 billion “parameters” (data points).

As of this writing, Microsoft’s Bing search engine platform is already powered by it. The tech titan gave OpenAI a USD 10 billion investment to help push it forward.
It is also currently available for ChatGPT Plus subscribers, who pay USD 20 monthly for exclusive access to the service.
However, schools advise against using it, it is frequently requested for producing songs, poetry, marketing copy, computer code, and assistance with schoolwork.
Because of this, it is easy to see that some may find this as a threat to what we humans can do.
So what makes Chat GPT-4 unique from its predecessors, and does it move AI closer to having an impact on society that is “more profound than fire or electricity,” in the words of Google CEO Sundar Pichai?
Here are some pointers to consider:
- There might not be much more data than GPT-3 – Again, this is unproven, but it seems like a good guess. The suggestion that it is trained on 100 trillion parameters has been scoffed at by Sam Altman(OpenAI’s CEO) himself as “total rubbish,” but some sources assert that it may be up to 100 times larger than GPT-3, which would place it in the neighborhood of 17 trillion parameters.
- Chat GPT-4 will be better at writing computer codes – The ability of ChatGPT (and consequently GPT-3) to develop not only human languages but also computer languages is one of its most striking characteristics. This indicates that a range of programming languages, including Javascript, Python, and C++ – three of the most often used in software development, web development, and data analytics – can be simply converted into computer code.
- Chat GPT-4 will not have the capability to add graphics to its arsenal of skills – It had been predicted that the text production capabilities of GPT-3 and the picture creation capabilities of OpenAI’s other flagship tool, Dall-E 2, would be combined in the next generation of generative AI. This is an intriguing concept since it raises the prospect that data may be shown using charts, graphics, and other tools that GPT-3 lacks. Altman, however, refuted this and asserted that GPT-4 would continue to be a text-only paradigm.
- Some people will be disappointed by GPT-4 – When anything generates as much excitement as GPT-3 has, it is inevitable that subsequent iterations won’t be as revolutionary. After all, if we were awestruck by a machine creating poetry, would we still be awestruck a few years later by a slightly improved computer-written poem?
