HONOR Win2 Display Teaser

The HONOR Win2 series is shaping up as a hardware showcase, with three models on the way: the Win2, the Win2 RT, and the Win2 Turbo. The lineup is defined by an active cooling fan and large batteries, and the standard model is said to carry a 10,100 mAh battery while the Win2 RT is reported at 12,070 mAh. The launch is expected this week.

Visionox claims the world’s first 2K 185Hz panel

Visionox, a display panel manufacturer, said in a post on Weibo that all three phones in the HONOR Win2 series will carry what it describes as the world’s first 2K 185Hz display. Visionox argues that many rivals trade resolution for higher refresh rate, and that its panel for this series was co-developed with HONOR to avoid that trade-off.

The panel also supports a 5,000Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate and a 520Hz reporting rate for ten-finger touch. Bezels measure 0.93mm on all four sides, and 5,920Hz PWM dimming is pitched as keeping your eyes fresh during long gaming sessions.

Gaming focus and an open question

The HONOR Win2 series is expected to run on the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 SoC and is positioned as a gaming lineup. GSMArena says it has tested numerous devices above 120Hz, and none could deliver outside select gaming titles, so it asks whether high refresh-rate gaming will be achievable on this series.
