Epson business printers that illustrate office printing costs

Epson Philippines says offices may be overlooking printing costs that go beyond the purchase price, from energy use to the cost of every page. Its Heat-Free Technology can use up to 85% less power, and the WorkForce Pro copiers carry estimated page rates from ₱0.23 in black. The company says the right printing technology can help reduce both operating expenses and environmental impact.

“Businesses should not have to choose between operating more efficiently and reducing their environmental impact. We believe the strongest sustainability solutions are those that also make good business sense. With Heat-Free Technology and our low cost per page printing solutions, we want to help organizations see how the right printing technology can contribute to both priorities,” said Noelle Gonzalez, Head of Marketing, Epson Philippines Corporation.

Rethinking the energy behind printing

Conventional laser printers rely on heat to bond toner to paper, including heating the fuser. Epson’s PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology uses piezoelectric technology to eject ink without applying heat during the ink ejection process. On applicable models, that can mean up to 85% less power and up to 59% fewer replacement parts than comparable laser printers, based on Epson’s published comparisons. Actual results may vary depending on the model, print volume, settings, and operating conditions.

For businesses, lower power consumption can mean less energy used for everyday printing, and fewer replacement parts can mean lower maintenance requirements.

The cost of every page

Ink is a recurring expense, making cost per page, or CPP, a useful measure of the estimated ink cost of each page. In Epson’s low-CPP business copier portfolio, the WorkForce Pro EM-C8100 and EM-C8101 carry an estimated cost per page of ₱0.75 for color and ₱0.23 for black, while the WorkForce Enterprise AM-M5500 runs an estimated ₱0.18 per black page.

The figure comes from the suggested retail price of the relevant ink supplies divided by their ISO page yields. It reflects estimated ink cost per ISO page only, leaving out paper, electricity, maintenance, replacement parts, and the printer’s purchase price, and actual yields may vary with print content, settings, and usage conditions.

Looking beyond the purchase price

A lower upfront hardware price does not always mean lower costs over the life of a device. Businesses can get a more complete picture by weighing the initial investment against recurring expenses such as ink, energy, and maintenance over time.

A free print cost assessment

The most suitable printing setup varies with an organization’s print volume, color requirements, workflows, and existing equipment. To help businesses understand their current environment, Epson Philippines offers a free print cost assessment. An Epson specialist reviews the organization’s existing print fleet and operating expenses, covering cost per page, energy consumption, and maintenance and replacement requirements.

The specialist then calculates potential savings from moving to an eligible high-yield, Heat-Free solution. The featured copiers are available through authorized Epson Philippines dealers and partners nationwide. The WorkForce Pro EM-C8100 and EM-C8101 quote an estimated ₱0.75 per color page and ₱0.23 per black page, and the WorkForce Enterprise AM-M5500 quotes an estimated ₱0.18 per black page. These cover ink only, based on suggested retail prices and ISO page yields.

Energy, maintenance, and ink add up over a device’s life, and cost per page captures only the ink side. The full cost can also include paper, replacement parts, and other running expenses, so a cheaper printer can still cost more over time.
