Entries are now open for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026, the CSR competition that asks Filipino students to turn science and technology into practical answers for problems they see in their own communities. Samsung Electronics Philippines is running the program with the Department of Education (DepEd), and submissions close on November 2, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
The competition is open to Grades 8 to 10 students from government-managed Science High Schools nationwide. This is its fourth year in the Philippines and its 16th year globally, and it traces back to the country’s first run in 2023.
How to join
Each team is made up of up to four students and one teacher-adviser. Teams submit a STEM-focused proposal that addresses a community, social change, or environmental sustainability challenge. They can write it in Word at up to 3,000 words or seven pages, or build a PowerPoint deck of no more than six slides. Every entry must be filed as a PDF that does not exceed 40 MB.
Students may choose from three themes: Environmental Sustainability through Technology, Social Change through Tech and Sport, or Solving Community Problems with AI. Judging weighs design innovation, relevance to the community, feasibility, STEM integration, sustainability, and clarity of the proposal.
Prizes and schedule
Samsung is putting up almost PhP2 million worth of devices and cash for the Top 10 teams, their schools, and their teacher-advisers. The Grand Prize is valued at PhP730,000: PhP400,000 in devices for the school, PhP200,000 in devices for the students and their teacher, PhP100,000 in cash for the team, and PhP30,000 in cash for the teacher.
Second Prize is worth PhP595,000 and Third Prize PhP465,000, with the remaining teams in the Top 10 each receiving PhP20,000 in cash. Shortlisted teams for Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 will be announced on November 16, 2026 and will work with a Samsung coach to refine their solutions before presenting to a board of judges on December 7, 2026. The top three teams will be named on December 15, 2026.
What earlier entries built
Since 2023, the program has drawn projects such as a solar-powered, water-quality sensing buoy for monitoring mangrove ecosystem health from Cavite Science Integrated School, an egg-segregation solution, and a low-cost pest control system designed to cut farmers’ reliance on chemicals.
