Delta, the popular iOS emulator for Nintendo consoles, has teased a new version called Delta Duo timed alongside Apple’s iPhone Duo foldable set for October 2026.
A post on the r/Delta_Emulator subreddit announces “Delta Duo” with the tagline “Delta 2.0 unfolds for everybody.” The visual features the purple Delta logo inside a foldable phone silhouette, directly referencing the iPhone Duo Apple unveiled on September 9.
Delta is the most recognized Nintendo emulator on iOS, supporting Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, and NES titles. It is developed by Riley Testut and distributed for free through AltStore, which Testut also created to give iOS users a way to sideload apps outside the App Store.
The timing points to one clear use case. Apple’s iPhone Duo opens to a 7.6-inch Super Retina XDR display and closes to a 5.4-inch external screen, with pre-orders beginning October 16 and availability starting October 23. DS and 3DS games are among the most requested emulation categories on iOS, and the dual-screen format has always been the hardest to simulate on a single phone display.
Community creators have already filled the gap with unofficial “Delta Duo” skins that map the DS top and bottom screens onto a phone display, but an official Delta Duo mode built into the emulator would change the experience. The iPhone Duo’s physical fold crease aligns almost perfectly with the natural seam between DS screens — one panel could show the top display, the other the bottom, or one side could run the game while the other shows touch controls or a map. The result would be the closest thing to a dedicated dual-screen handheld running on a device users already own.
Delta’s version numbering is also worth noting. The teaser calls the update “Delta 2.0 Duo” with the “2.0” crossed out, suggesting the foldable support goes beyond what a typical numbered release would deliver. That tracks with what the iPhone Duo enables: Apple’s first foldable ships with iOS 27, which includes multitasking features reimagined for the larger inner display, and an emulator that can span both panels is the kind of third-party application the new hardware invites.
No further details on compatibility, controller support, or specific features have been announced. The teaser confirms only the October timeframe and the foldable focus. The full scope of the Delta Duo update will likely be revealed closer to the iPhone Duo’s launch next month.
