Apple appears to be expanding its hardware ecosystem, with reports pointing to the development of two first-party game controllers. Recently discovered code, briefly included in a macOS 26.7 release, revealed references to unreleased peripherals dubbed “T6502” and “T1057.”
Apple Controllers
Spotted by a MacRumors forum user, the code indicates both models will feature a standard layout, complete with ABXY buttons, dual clickable thumbsticks, shoulder buttons, analog triggers, and Home and Menu buttons. However, the two controllers target very different tiers of functionality.
The T6502 serves as the baseline model. Connecting via USB, this controller features an extra Options button but lacks motion sensors. It also features a software-driven haptic system partitioned into four distinct channels, which allows software requests to share physical motors for precise, distortion-free feedback.
Meanwhile, the higher-end T1057 offers flexible connectivity through USB, Bluetooth, and more. It omits the Options button but includes a single addressable actuator motor, along with an accelerometer and a gyroscope, to support motion-based gaming input fully.
Entering a densely packed gaming accessory market means Apple’s hardware will need to stand out beyond standard functionality.
