Qualcomm has discreetly added a new variant of its flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V-series chipset to its official lineup. Carrying the model number SM8850-1-AB, this gaming-optimized silicon is confirmed to power the upcoming Redmi K100 Pro series, launching in China on August 11.

The new chipset shares most of its core specifications with the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It retains the same 4.6GHz Oryon Prime cores, 3.62GHz performance cores, 1.2GHz Adreno GPU, and advanced connectivity features.

The only documented hardware difference is a slight adjustment in Adreno High Performance Memory (HPM); the new variant features 12MB of dedicated HPM, compared to the standard version’s 18MB. Despite this change, the platform retains high-end gaming technologies like hardware-accelerated ray tracing and Unreal Engine 5 optimizations.
This specialized chip joins three other Gen 5 variants already in the market, giving manufacturers more options for gaming-centric flagships.
