Roblox has officially removed “Roblox Connect,” the platform’s avatar-based video calling feature. Introduced in 2023, the service allowed users to conduct video calls while their digital avatars mirrored their real-world facial expressions and physical movements in real-time.
Roblox: No More Video Calls
Despite its innovative facial-tracking technology, the feature struggled to gain traction. The platform’s spokesperson, Angela Allison, noted that users aged 13 and older predominantly rely on the platform’s “Party Voice” feature. Recognizing this shift in user behavior, the platform has shut down the Connect service and deactivated its associated developer APIs.

According to the company, Party Voice provides a more capable and seamless experience that accurately reflects how the community actually communicates today. In addition, the platform is doubling down on the audio features its player base actively utilizes.
The discontinuation of the Connect APIs means any in-game phonebook or calling workflows will no longer function, marking the end of Roblox’s video calling experiment.
