DJI Mic Mini 2 is more colorful than ever

DJI has officially launched the Mic Mini 2, the successor to its popular compact wireless microphone, bringing a host of thoughtful upgrades targeted at vloggers, solo content creators, and smartphone videographers. The new mic is now available globally, including the Philippines through DJI authorized retailers including the DJI Store PH, Lazada, and Shopee.

A More Flexible Ecosystem

One of the biggest changes in the Mic Mini 2 is how DJI has restructured its case and receiver lineup. For the first time, buyers can choose between two configurations: the all-in-one charging case. which holds two transmitters, one camera receiver, and one phone receiver, or a new, more compact mobile-specific charging case designed for solo creators who only need a single transmitter and phone receiver. The mobile case is described as earphone-case-sized and can easily slip into a pocket, making it significantly more portable than its predecessor’s setup.

The all-in-one case stores a 3.5 mm audio adapter cable and windproof covers alongside all components, making it a comprehensive on-the-go kit for multi-person shoots or hybrid camera-and-phone workflows.

Bold New Design: 10 Colors, Magnetic Swap

The Mic Mini 2’s transmitter retains DJI’s signature semi-transparent shell and lightweight build, weighing in at just ~11 grams, but adds a magnetic front cover mechanism that replaces the fixed shell of the original. In addition to the default white and black, DJI now offers eight additional colored magnetic faceplates, ranging across warm and cool tones. These interchangeable covers can be swapped quickly to match an outfit or shooting environment, and unused panels can be stored in a dedicated compact case. It’s a small but welcome touch that adds a layer of personality to what is otherwise a utilitarian accessory.

The magnetic clip on the back of the transmitter has also been refined, now featuring a rotatable design so creators can orient the microphone capsule directly toward their mouth regardless of how the transmitter is clipped, whether upright, inverted, or sideways.

Dual Receiver Setup

The Mic Mini 2 ships with two receiver options. The camera receiver features a 5-level volume gain control with up to 24 dB of adjustment, a 3.5 mm audio output, a digital hot shoe mount, and an adapter on the bottom that allows a phone connector to slide in for direct smartphone recording. Its transmission range reaches up to 400 meters. The phone (mobile) receiver connects directly to a USB-C port and features a physical noise cancellation toggle with two levels (Weak and Strong) and a connection button for one-press pairing with nearby transmitters. It supports up to 300 meters of transmission range.

Notably, the camera receiver is exclusive to Mic Mini series products, while the mobile receiver is cross-compatible with DJI Mic 2, Mic 3, and Mic Mini transmitters, which is a useful flexibility for creators who own multiple DJI mics.

Audio Performance and New Features

At its core, the Mic Mini 2 records at 48 kHz / 24-bit, which DJI describes as a “classic” standard configuration that offers solid versatility for video and podcast production. This is consistent with the original Mic Mini and is not a step up to 32-bit float, which remains a feature exclusive to the higher-end Mic 3.

What’s new are the vocal tone presets: Normal (natural and transparent), Rich/Full (enhanced low frequencies for a warmer, more magnetic voice), and Bright (boosted high frequencies for clearer, airier delivery). These can be adjusted via the DJI Mimo app. DJI has also carried over features from the original Mic Mini including automatic anti-clipping, a safe audio track, plug-and-play speaker output, and RX-linked camera power-on/off sync.

Noise cancellation can be toggled between off, Weak, and Strong settings. While Strong mode significantly reduces ambient noise, it does come at the cost of some natural ambience, slightly processing non-vocal sounds.

Bluetooth Direct and DJI Ecosystem Integration

A standout upgrade is the addition of Bluetooth 5.3 direct connectivity on the transmitter itself. Without a receiver, the Mic Mini 2 transmitter can pair directly to a smartphone or compatible DJI cameras such as the DJI Pocket 3 and Osmo 360, transmitting audio at full 48 kHz / 24-bit quality. This makes it a highly versatile tool for DJI users who want clean audio without carrying extra hardware.

Battery Life: A Full Day and Then Some

Battery performance is a clear strength of the Mic Mini 2. A fully charged transmitter delivers approximately 11.5 hours of continuous recording, enough for a full day’s shoot without anxiety. With the all-in-one charging case providing top-ups on the go, total battery life reaches close to 48 hours. The mobile charging case offers around 24 hours total. DJI’s positioning here is deliberate: the company wants creators to treat the Mic Mini 2 like a pair of wireless earbuds, drop it in the case when resting, pick it up when needed, and never worry about running out of power mid-shoot.

A Few Caveats

The Mic Mini 2 is not without minor trade-offs. The mobile charging case’s compact dimensions mean that when the windproof furball cover is attached to the transmitter, the lid cannot close flush, users will need to detach and reattach the windproof cover each time they stow it. Additionally, the camera receiver lacks a physical noise cancellation button, which is only present on the mobile receiver, meaning all-in-one users must reach for the app for those adjustments.
