Google has just announced that its annual Google I/O event will be held on May 19-20, 2026. This event is historically where the company showcases its software updates, including the latest version of Android.
Interestingly enough, this was around the same time Apple and Nothing shared their own launch events next month. The former announced its Apple Experience event, while the latter revealed the launch date of the Nothing Phone (4a) series.

The Google I/O 2026 will be held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California. The company will showcase updates across Android, Chrome, Cloud, Gemini, and its other platforms and software during the keynote, which will likely open the two-day event.
Yes, this includes revealing most features of Android 17, which the company began rolling out the first beta version last week.
Android 17 is expected to offer visual changes and other updates, but it is also believed that it won’t be as big a visual update as Android 16 was.
