The report cites that two Taiwanese citizens were indicted for aiding in the recruiting practices of OnePlus prior to the release of the warrant. Lau is accused of illegally recruiting over 70 engineers based in Taiwan since 2014.

This is said to have violated Taiwan’s Act Governing Relations Between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area, or the Cross-Strait Act. This requires government approval to hire local talent.
