The 8BitDo FlipPad has just been unveiled. This is a gaming controller designed specifically for portrait-mode smartphone gaming. Debuting at CES 2026, the device marks a shift from traditional landscape gamepads to accommodate vertical play on both Android and iOS devices.

The FlipPad comes with a “flip-up” design. It connects to a smartphone via the USB-C port and folds over the lower half of the screen to reveal its tactile interface. Adopting 8BitDo’s signature “G Classic” aesthetic, the controller features a black D-pad, burgundy ABXY buttons, and gray Start/Select controls. Notably, it also includes six mysterious white buttons whose specific functions have yet to be detailed by the company.

One of the FlipPad’s key selling points is its official Apple support, ensuring seamless integration with iPhones alongside its Android compatibility. While 8BitDo has not yet revealed the pricing for the new accessory, more details are expected during their full presentation at the Las Vegas Convention Center this week.
