Xiaomi Founder, Chairman, and CEO Lei Jun has announced that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will launch next week. Xiaomi has also announced a global upgrade to its imaging partnership with Leica, which is said to be a “strategic co-creator” model.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra – Launch
The next-level partnership is said to mean that both brands will collaborate from the earliest stages of product design.
As part of this, Xiaomi introduced a new optical system for its smartphones, which features a Leica APO-certified telephoto lens. The lens is designed to deliver better color accuracy, reduced chromatic aberration, and better clarity in longer focal lengths.
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is expected to debut this co-developed lens, which is said to improve night photography, high-contrast scenes, and telephoto image quality.
Alleged Specs
As of writing this, Xiaomi has yet to reveal the official specs of the Ultra device. However, there’s a plethora of leaks. Among these include a flat display with a high-efficiency panel, a Snapdragon
8 Elite Gen 5, a 7000mAh battery, 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless charging.
The upcoming Ultra device is said to boast a 50MP OmniVision OV50X 1-inch sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultrawide snapper with macro capabilities. It is also said to be rated at IP68 for dust and water resistance.

Xiaomi 17 Ultra has already been in blind pre-order in China for a while, but its official launch is slated for next week. The exact date has yet to be announced, but a previous report claims it will be after Christmas. Meanwhile, it is expected to go global in March along with the Xiaomi 17.
