Smart has introduced KiQ, a new mobile brand that operates entirely via a mobile application, aimed at Gen Z users with customizable service options. It’s the first fully app-based mobile service in the Philippines and among the early adopters of this approach globally.
What’s unique about KiQ?
KiQ’s Slider Interface allows subscribers to customize their mobile plans according to specific needs. Users can adjust data allocation amounts, select whether to include voice calls and text messaging services, and determine plan validity periods. It also enables subscribers to choose their preferred mobile number.
This addresses varying usage patterns by allowing users to configure services without standard bundled packages that may include unused features.
How do I activate my KiQ eSIM?
The service operates exclusively through eSIM technology, with activation handled entirely through the KiQ mobile application. KiQ is also Smart’s first implementation of QR-less eSIM activation, eliminating the need to scan QR codes received via email.
The activation process involves downloading the KiQ app, purchasing an eSIM for PHP 99, customizing the service plan, selecting a mobile number, and activating the eSIM through the device’s settings. The entire process can be completed within minutes through the application.
KiQ subscribers also get prioritized network access in high-traffic locations, including entertainment venues, shopping centers, educational campuses, and urban centers to maintain connection quality in peak usage periods when network congestion typically affects service performance.
Where can I download the KiQ App?
The KiQ application is available for download on both Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The service requires a one-time eSIM registration process before subscribers can begin using their customized plans.
“Filipino Gen Zs are redefining how they live, share, and stay connected. With KiQ, we’re giving them a mobile experience that puts them in full control — no wasted data, no unnecessary add-ons, just total freedom and flexibility. This is what the future of mobile looks like.” – Anastacio “Boy” R. Martirez, Smart Chief Operating Officer.
