LG has launched its redesigned xboom audio collection – a shift from the previous XBOOM series toward a more refined approach to portable sound. The new lineup boasts a combination of smart features, balanced acoustics, and design elements crafted in collaboration with Grammy-winning artist will.i.am, who served as the collection’s Experiential Architect.
Product Lineup Overview
xboom Stage 301

The Stage 301 functions as the lineup’s centerpiece for home entertainment. It has a 6.5-inch woofer paired with 2.5-inch midrange drivers, designed to deliver room-filling bass and stereo clarity. It provides 12 hours of continuous playback and includes IPX4 water resistance for splash protection.

Other features include built-in karaoke functionality with microphone controls and DJ effects accessible via the LG ThinQ app, making it suitable for social gatherings and family entertainment.
xboom Bounce

Built for durability and extended use, the Bounce offers 30 hours of uptime and uses dual passive radiators with twin dome tweeters for enhanced bass response and audio clarity. It meets IP67 standards for water and dust resistance and has passed U.S. military durability testing across seven categories including rain, vibration, impact, and temperature extremes.

The Bounce includes a carrying strap and maintains a portable form factor despite its robust construction and extended battery capacity.
xboom Grab

The Grab targets outdoor and mobile use with a tube-shaped design that includes a 16mm dome tweeter for crisp sound reproduction. Like the Bounce, it has an IP67 rating as well as military-standard durability certification, with up to 20 hours of playback time.

Its compact size and integrated carrying strap make it suitable for activities like hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities where portability is essential.
xboom Buds

These wireless earbuds employ graphene-coated drivers for excellent audio reproduction and feature active noise cancellation technology. Three microphones, including two with beamforming capability, handle voice calls and ambient sound processing.

The buds offer 30 hours of total playback time with the charging case and maintain IPX4 water resistance. A dedicated app provides EQ customization and works across iOS and Android platforms.
AI-Powered Audio Features
The xboom lineup integrates several artificial intelligence functions across all models:
- AI Sound automatically adjusts audio settings based on music genre recognition, optimizing the listening experience for different types of content.
- AI Calibration analyzes the acoustic environment and adjusts speaker output accordingly, compensating for room size and acoustic properties.
- AI Lighting detects the mood and tempo of music to synchronize lighting effects with the audio content.
- Auracast Party Link enables users to connect multiple xboom speakers wirelessly, creating expanded soundstages for larger spaces or events.
Design Philosophy and will.i.am Collaboration
The collaboration with will.i.am focused on achieving what LG describes as “richer, warmer tones” compared to the previous XBOOM series. The partnership involved fine-tuning the acoustic signature on all models to create a more balanced sound profile while maintaining a powerful bass response.
The design approach emphasizes portability without sacrificing audio quality, each model incorporating weather resistance and durability features that support active lifestyles.
Technical Specifications Summary
The lineup spans multiple use cases from indoor entertainment to outdoor adventures. Battery life ranges from 12 hours (Stage 301) to 30 hours (Bounce and Buds combined), while water resistance varies from IPX4 splash protection to full IP67 submersion resistance depending on the model.
All speakers support wireless connectivity and integration with LG’s ThinQ ecosystem, providing app-based control and customization options for users who prefer detailed audio adjustment capabilities.
