Apple’s iPhone Duo begins shipping this Friday, October 23, and recent reports reveal the Apple Pencil compatibility is arriving as early as next week.
iPhone Duo to Receive Apple Pencil Support
When the company unveiled the iPhone Duo last month, the company stated that stylus support would roll out “later this year.” However, according to 9to5Mac and tech analyst Max Weinbach, full Pencil functionality is already operational in the iOS 27.2 Release Candidate. The public launch of iOS 27.2 is projected to arrive on Monday, October 26, mere days after the device’s initial release.

Weinbach confirmed that drawing, note-taking, and navigation are already functioning smoothly on both the iPhone Duo’s inner and outer displays. This update is a milestone, as no previous iPhone has ever supported the Apple Pencil.
There is, however, one significant caveat for prospective buyers: the iPhone Duo is exclusively compatible with the USB-C version of the Pencil. The premium Pencil Pro and older models are not supported, largely because the Duo’s foldable design lacks a suitable magnetic attachment point. Instead, users will pair and charge their stylus via a USB-C cable.
