The PayMongo Datadog deployment has cut the payments platform’s mean time to restore (MTTR) from hours to minutes, and PayMongo now resolves 75 per cent of incidents before they reach merchants. Datadog announced the results on September 21, 2026, from Manila and Singapore.

The platform runs entirely on the cloud and processes billions of dollars in monthly payment volume for tens of thousands of businesses across Southeast Asia. Transaction volumes grew many times over in the past 18 months, and operating in a highly regulated environment left the company little room for error.

How the PayMongo Datadog deployment came together

Engineers were context-switching across fragmented tools, and security coverage was inconsistent across the organisation. PayMongo needed one platform that gave its teams end-to-end visibility over the full payments flow and the ability to correlate signals fast.

“Uptime and transaction reliability are absolutely mission-critical for us,” said Jose Dalino, Chief Product and Technology Officer at PayMongo. “Every second of downtime means real money lost for the tens of thousands of businesses that rely on us to collect payments from their customers.”

75 per cent of incidents never reach the merchant

PayMongo embedded automated monitoring and incident response into its operations with Datadog’s AI-powered anomaly detection, SLO-based alerting, and Synthetic Monitoring. The platform now detects when a payment partner goes down in near real time, notifies merchants, and pauses the affected payment methods automatically. That protects the checkout experience and reduces abandoned carts without the merchant having to react.

“For a payments company, having complete visibility into every step of a transaction and the confidence to act on it instantly is a game changer,” Dalino said.

Security and code scanning on the same platform

Growth widened PayMongo’s attack surface as merchants, payment methods, and engineers multiplied. Cloud SIEM connects security signals from endpoint protection, identity tools, and network activity to application and infrastructure data in real time, so security and engineering teams share one view of affected services. Code Security scans for vulnerabilities such as exploitable phantom package references before code reaches production, which matters as AI-generated code becomes a bigger part of development.

“Reliability is what earns trust in payments. Datadog gives us the visibility to deliver on that promise, at any scale, at any time,” Dalino said.

Adrian Towsey, Vice President of Commercial Sales for Asia-Pacific and Japan at Datadog, said uptime, reliability, and security are non-negotiable for a financial operating system in a highly regulated sector, and that unifying observability and security gives PayMongo the control to scale with confidence.

PayMongo did not disclose the cost of the deployment or which parts of its stack come next. We covered how these pieces meet real payment flows before, including the Google Wallet launch in the Philippines, where PayMongo appears among the supported online merchants. Datadog’s security and observability products are detailed on Datadog’s official site, and the platform PayMongo runs on is described at PayMongo.
