Maya is making account upgrades lighter for eligible users. With Maya ID-less verification, a customer can confirm their identity without photographing or uploading a physical ID, starting instead with details they already know: their name and birthday.
Behind the process, Maya checks those details against National ID records through National ID eVerify, the Philippine Statistics Authority’s identity-verification service. Users who have their National ID number saved or memorized can enter that number instead. Once the details check out, there is no physical ID to photograph or upload.
How Maya ID-less verification works
Maya lays the upgrade out in three steps. The first asks for your name and birthday, or your National ID number if you have it on hand. The second is a quick video selfie, which works together with the National ID check to confirm identity. The third asks only for details that cannot already be verified elsewhere.
The heavier lifting happens behind the scenes, and the company has been building toward it: Maya has argued that stronger infrastructure and enabling policies are key to sustainable digital finance in ASEAN.
What stays the same
If Maya cannot verify a user’s information through National ID eVerify, the application can continue through the regular ID-upload process without starting over. Maya says its usual safeguards still apply, including identity verification, screening and other regulatory checks. AI and automation handle routine verification work, while cases that need closer attention are routed for human review. Maya Philippines, Inc. and Maya Bank, Inc. are regulated by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
For eligible users, Maya ID-less verification means less to prepare and less to type: a name, a birthday, a video selfie and only the details that are still missing. More information is available at maya.ph.
