Apple today announced AirPods 5, an open-ear design that brings the industry’s best Active Noise Cancellation to its most affordable AirPods yet, alongside Siri AI support and Live Translation. The new AirPods 5 join the iPhone 18 Pro lineup announced at the same event, with pre-orders opening today.

“We’re thrilled that with AirPods 5, we’re able to bring Active Noise Cancellation — one of our most beloved features — to our most affordable AirPods,” said Dave Pakula, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering. “Both AirPods 5 models deliver a world-class listening experience and enable features like Live Translation for even more people.”
Best-in-class open-ear ANC
The headline feature is Active Noise Cancellation in an open-ear form, powered by an all-new multiport acoustic architecture and improved computational audio algorithms. Apple says AirPods 5 remove up to 50 percent more external noise compared with AirPods 4 with ANC, while an improved Transparency mode represents voices and nearby sounds more naturally. Adaptive Audio blends the two modes based on the environment, and Conversation Awareness automatically lowers media volume when the wearer starts speaking.

Sound, Siri AI, and translation
Sound quality is re-engineered with the multiport acoustic architecture and next-generation Adaptive EQ, which Apple says delivers richer, more detailed sound across a wider range of ear geometries and makes Personalized Spatial Audio more immersive.
With an Apple Intelligence-supported iPhone, AirPods 5 tap into Siri AI hands-free, and Siri Interactions let wearers answer by nodding or shaking their head. Live Translation, powered by Apple Intelligence, now works across the entire AirPods lineup: users can press both stems or say “Siri, start Live Translation” to hear a conversation in their preferred language.
Pricing and battery
AirPods 5 are priced at $129 (US), while the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case costs $149 (US) and adds longer battery life plus a force sensor with volume swipe, a first for the open-ear form factor. Battery life reaches up to five hours of playback with ANC, one hour more than AirPods 4 with ANC, extending to up to 22 hours with the charging case. The wireless case supports Apple Watch chargers, Qi-compatible chargers, and USB-C, and both models bring improved dust, sweat, and water resistance.

Pre-orders for AirPods 5 open today in the US and more than 65 other countries and regions, with in-store availability beginning Friday, September 18. In the Philippines, Apple lists AirPods 5 at PhP9,490 and the AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case at PhP10,990, with availability through the Apple online store and authorized resellers.
