Wise is expanding its services in the Philippines with new ways for customers to receive, spend, and manage Philippine pesos across borders. These new capabilities include PHP account details, QR Ph payments, and higher real-time receiving limits for small businesses.

Wise Expands its Platform with New Features Philippines (6)

More Filipinos now live and work internationally, supported by a growing freelance economy, international salaries, and increased outbound travel. According to the OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa survey, 81% of young Filipinos are willing to live and work abroad.

PHP Account Details Without a Traditional Bank Account

Wise Expands its Platform with New Features Philippines (30)

Both Filipinos living outside the Philippines and Wise users around the world can now receive PHP account details via Wise. These details can be shared with employers, clients, friends, and family members who need to send Philippine peso payments.

Recipients do not need to establish a traditional local bank account or visit a physical branch to receive these transfers. Payments can be sent through InstaPay and PESONet, the domestic payment networks connected to Wise in the Philippines.

The feature extends Wise’s existing account-detail services, which already allow customers in the Philippines to receive payments in currencies such as US dollars, British pounds, and Australian dollars.

The PHP expansion is particularly relevant to Filipinos living abroad, who represent more than 10% of the country’s population.

QR Ph Payments for Everyday Spending

Wise Expands its Platform with New Features Philippines (24)

Wise customers can now use QR Ph to pay for everyday transactions in the Philippines directly from their Wise balance. Payments can be made using PHP or another currency held in a Wise Account.

The feature is designed to help travelers spend locally without opening a Philippine bank account or using an e-wallet. It also supports freelancers and other customers who receive international payments through Wise.

Users can set an Auto Conversion target rate to convert earnings into PHP. Once converted, the funds can be used for purchases and bill payments in the Philippines through the same application.

Higher Limits for Small Businesses

Wise Expands its Platform with New Features Philippines (9)

Wise is increasing the amount that Business Account customers can receive through InstaPay for Business in real time. The new limit is PHP 500,000 for instant domestic payments.

The feature is a response to cash-flow pressures faced by small businesses. Many rely heavily on incoming payments to cover payroll, purchase inventory, and pay suppliers, while having limited access to credit.

Wise said its direct connection to InstaPay makes it one of the first financial institutions in the Philippines to offer the capability.

Since its debut in the Philippines back in 2024, Wise has expanded its account, card, business, partnership, and payment infrastructure offerings. These features are designed to support its continued growth, which includes the introduction of Wise Account and Card, Wise Business, and the expansion of its platform via a partnership with GoTyme Bank.
