Sony Santa Monica has recently confirmed that their upcoming title, God of War Laufey, will indeed be available on disc. This came after Sony’s all-digital release announcement.

Announced earlier this year at Summer Game Fest 2026, Laufey is a new entry in the beloved franchise that will star Kratos’ wife, Faye. By confirming a physical edition, the studio has inadvertently narrowed down the highly anticipated game’s release window.
The impending end of PlayStation‘s physical media has sparked immense backlash, prompting a fan petition with over 310,000 signatures demanding that the company reverse its decision. It remains to be seen if the tech giant will back down.
Since the company’s digital-only mandate takes effect at the beginning of 2028, fans can safely expect God of War Laufey to launch sometime before the end of 2027.
