Smart glasses are on the rise, from Meta to Rokid, and the market has expanded over the years. And while this is a good thing for content creators and tech enthusiasts, there are concerns over the new technology.

In the US, New York becomes the first state to ban the use of smart glasses in all of its court buildings.

New York – Smart Glasses Ban

Starting July 20, eyewear and headwear containing cameras, microphones, or other recording technology will be allowed inside all state courts in New York, covering more than 1,240 courts. The memo includes prescription glasses with recording capabilities.

Recording in courtrooms is already banned in federal courts in the US, but this specifically mentions glasses with recording technology.

The ban makes perfect sense because it’s easy to bring these around and brings concern for privacy and cybersecurity. The same convenience, though, has made these types of camera/glasses very popular for content creators like ourselves.

With this type of tech just on the rise, it will be interesting to see how different the governments of the world will react to smart glasses.
