Maya Black Mini Payments is perfect for big ticket purchases
On our recent trip to America, Amsterdam and Barcelona, I relied heavily on my Maya Black credit card for everything from airport rides to food crawls to attraction tickets. It was one of my main cards for the entire European run, and because it is powered by Visa, it worked seamlessly at millions of merchants across different countries. That level of acceptance matters when you are paying in unfamiliar cities and just want your transactions to go through without drama.
During that trip, Luie and I used Maya Black for both small daily payments and bigger purchases. Some transactions were easy to forget, like coffee and quick snacks, but others were sizable, such as accommodations, tours, or more premium experiences we did not want to skip. When you are in a different country, it is easy to swipe or tap and think of it as “trip mode,” only to be greeted later by a statement filled with large entries. That is where Maya’s Mini Payments feature becomes very practical.

What Mini Payments Actually Does
Mini Payments is a feature inside the Maya app that lets you convert eligible straight purchases on your Maya Black credit card into installment plans. Instead of paying one big amount at your next due date, you split that transaction over several months. You get the convenience and flexibility of getting an installment plan without needing to fill out forms, or call a hotline.
Everything happens inside the app, with approvals given within 24 hours.
This is especially useful for travel spending and other big ticket purchases. Let us say you charged a hotel stay or a large gadget purchase to your Maya Black. Once that transaction gets posted, it becomes an eligible transaction that you can convert into Mini Payments to make into smaller, more manageable chunks of payment. It is a way of aligning your cash flow with your lifestyle, while keeping full visibility inside the same app where you already manage your card and Maya Miles.
How to Access Mini Payments in the Maya App
The process of using Mini Payments is straightforward. You will find everything you need inside the Maya app, under your credit card dashboard. Here is a quick walkthrough of how it works based on my own experience.
First, open your Maya app and go to your Maya Black credit card. This is where you normally check your available credit, due dates, and recent spending. From there, tap History to see the list of your posted transactions. This is the same view I used after our trip to review every ride, meal, and activity that I charged to the card.

From there, you can select the transaction you want to convert. There are a few ground rules. The transaction needs to meet a minimum amount of 3,000 pesos to be converted into Mini Payments.

Here’s a table for easy reference:
| Minimum Amount Per Term | |
| 3 Months | PhP3,000 |
| 6 Months | PhP6,000 |
| 9 Months | PhP9,000 |
| 12 Months | PhP12,000 |
This makes sense because the feature is designed for sizable purchases that would benefit from being spread out, not for small everyday spending that is easy enough to pay off in full.
After choosing the transaction, the app will show you a set of payment plan options. You can choose from 3-6–9-12 monthly tenors to make your bigger purchases more manageable to your financial capacity. In my case, I chose a three month plan for one of the bigger purchases from our trip. The app then displays a clear breakdown of how much you will pay every month and the total interest (3% in my case) you will pay over the entire plan. If the rate for that specific plan is one percent, that amount is already computed and shown upfront, so you can decide whether the tradeoff is worth it.

Once you confirm the plan, the transaction is converted into Mini Payments. You can easily track your monthly mini payments schedule in the mini payments tab. Big purchases with your Maya Black credit card can now be organized into neat, predictable payments. And here’s a treat from Maya: there are zero processing fees for Mini Payments created until September 30, 2026!
When It Makes Sense to Use Mini Payments
Like any credit feature, Mini Payments is something you should use intentionally. It is not an excuse to overspend. Instead, think of it as a tool to manage timing. For example, if you have a once in a lifetime trip, a crucial work gadget, or a big family expense that you know you can pay off comfortably over the next few months, converting that transaction into Mini Payments can make your monthly budget feel less cramped.
It becomes even more powerful when you combine it with the other strengths of Maya Black. You still earn Maya Miles on your spending, which you can later redeem for flights, shopping, or other rewards, and you still enjoy the convenience of an app based card with real time tracking and full control. You get lounge access for more comfortable trips and worldwide Visa acceptance when you travel, then you come home and have the option to restructure selected big purchases through Mini Payments if needed.

The key is to match your plan to your cash flow. A shorter tenor means you finish paying the Mini Payment plan faster, usually with a lower effective monthly interest rate. A slightly longer plan can ease your monthly obligations but may cost more over time. Since the app shows you both the monthly amount and the total interest, you get a transparent view of that tradeoff before committing.
The Feature I never knew I needed
My overall experience using Maya Black in Europe, then managing the bill back home with Mini Payments, reinforced why this card has become one of my go-to tools for travel and everyday life. It does not stop at being a premium looking card with a nice design. It is integrated into an app that lets you track, control, and now restructure your spending when needed.
If you already use Maya Black, check out the Mini Payments option for your bigger transactions. Used wisely, it can help you enjoy travel trips without dreading a single giant line item on your next statement. And if you are still deciding whether to apply, it is one more reason to consider a card that combines global usability, travel perks, and flexible repayment tools in a single digital first experience.
