Spotify has launched a new “Verified by Spotify” badge designed to help listeners distinguish human musicians from the growing wave of AI-generated content.

The new verification system, marked by a light green checkmark icon, will appear on artist profiles and in search results over the coming weeks. This badge means that an artist has been vetted for authenticity. To qualify, musicians must demonstrate consistent listener engagement, adhere to platform policies, and maintain a verifiable “off-platform” presence.
Profiles that primarily represent AI-generated “content farms” are currently ineligible for the badge. Spotify estimates that 99% of its most-searched artists will be verified at launch.
In addition to the badge, the platform is rolling out a “nutrition facts” style section for all artist profiles. This beta feature highlights career milestones, release patterns, and touring history to provide fans with more context about the artists they support.
This move helps in limiting “AI slop”. While the platform does not currently ban AI music entirely, this initiative marks its most significant effort to prioritize human artists.
