SmartSens has officially announced the SC5A6XS, a high-performance 1-inch image sensor aimed at the next generation of flagship smartphones.

Built on an advanced 22nm stacked process, the SC5A6XS introduces the company’s “Lofic HDR 3.0” technology. This upgrade allows the sensor to achieve a peak dynamic range of 115dB, significantly improving detail in high-contrast scenes. By utilizing multi-frame fusion within a single exposure, the technology also effectively eliminates motion artifacts during high-speed captures.

Moreover, the sensor supports 4K recording at 120fps for ultra-smooth slow motion, as well as 4K HDR at 60fps. Low-light performance is bolstered by “SFCPixel” technology and a large 1.6μm pixel size. Furthermore, SmartSens claims an 11% reduction in power consumption in HDR mode, helping reduce overheating.
The SC5A6XS has already entered the sampling phase, with mass production scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.
