Motorola announced a long-term partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation to bring the privacy-hardened operating system to future devices.
Motorola Partners with GrapheneOS
For years, GrapheneOS, a de-Googled, security-focused Android fork, has been exclusive to Google Pixel phones due to stringent hardware requirements. However, the company is now set to release next-generation handsets specifically to meet these standards, including support for hardware memory tagging and verified boot.

The first compatible devices are expected to debut in 2027. According to GrapheneOS, the rollout will initially focus on premium flagship models similar to the current Signature and Razr Fold lines. These devices will ship without traditional bloatware, offering the same streamlined, “hardened” experience found on current Pixel implementations.
Moreover, the brand plans to integrate specific GrapheneOS security concepts into its standard Android skin for its broader product lineup. Motorola stated the move aims to “bring cutting-edge security to everyday users” by combining GrapheneOS’s open-source research with Lenovo’s enterprise-grade ThinkShield technology.
