The OPPO Reno15 F 5G is the most affordable of the recently unveiled OPPO Reno15 Series 5G, starting at PHP 23,999. While you don’t enjoy the same camera system upgrade as the Reno15 5G and Reno15 Pro 5G, the Reno15 F 5G boasts the largest battery of the series, the complete opposite of its predecessor.

How does this translate, though, in terms of performance in the real world? I got to use the device for about two weeks, and here’s my experience.

Unboxing Experience

If you’re familiar with unboxing an OPPO Reno series device, it’s pretty much the same for the OPPO Reno15 F 5G and the Reno15 Series 5G, as a whole. One big difference, though, is the Dancing Aurora design on the silver rectangle with the number 15 on the box.

This reflects the design, especially for the Aurora Blue color option. Aside from that, you get the usual silicone case, the 80W SUPERVOOC charger, USB-A to USB-C cable, documentation, and SIM ejector tool along with the device itself.

I’m glad that OPPO has continued to ship its Reno series with a charger that matches the charging speeds of the device itself and a cable.

Build and Design

OPPO Reno15 F 5G Review 2

The Aurora Blue color option of the OPPO Reno15 F 5G is an eye-catching device, as the only color option with the Dancing Aurora texture around the back. The Dancing Aurora, clearly inspired by the Auroras of the world, is a beautiful evolution from the Iridescent Mermaid design of the Reno14 Series 5G and the Butterfly Shadow of the Reno13 Series 5G.

Additionally, there’s the Dynamic Stellar Ring design that captures light and refracts it create a halo effect. It’s a subtle effect, but it makes the rear even more eye-catching and even draws your attention to the camera module.

When holding the device, it feels very comfortable and familiar. The former is probably because it’s slightly smaller than smartphones in this day and age. If you’re curious, it measures in at 158.18 × 74.93 mm and is just 8.14mm thin, or roughly the same size as the Reno14 F 5G.

OPPO has also improved the IP rating of the OPPO Reno15 F 5G with an IP66, IP68, and IP69 certification. In comparison, the Reno14 F 5G was rated IP69. The upgrade in IP rating gives you more peace of mind, especially if you enjoy going on adventures.

The Reno15 F 5G also still carries over the Underwater Mode, which is found in the camera app, then going to More. Like its predecessors, though, it is only for use in fresh water like rivers, streams, falls, and the like.

Another thing I liked about the OPPO Reno15 F 5G, it has retained the button placement, which remains on the right for both the volume rockers and power button. They’re perfectly placed, for me, to easily access them.

Multimedia Experience

OPPO Reno15 F 5G Review display 1

The OPPO Reno15 F 5G is built around a 6.57-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass+. It isn’t the most impressive display out there, but it is enough for everyday use, especially if you’re looking for a daily driver.

The display offers a peak brightness of 1400nits, which is pretty good if you’re going out for a walk or just soaking up the sun, even in midday.

If you’re like me, who enjoys watching videos on your phone while doing chores or before you sleep, the Reno15 F 5G offers a pretty solid entertainment experience thanks to its display and its stereo speakers. Yes, stereo speakers. Although it is notable that the second speaker uses the earpiece above the front camera, rather than a separate speaker. This makes it just decent.

The device also features OPPO’s Volume Boost, which offers a max volume level of 300%, rather than the usual upper limit of 100%. The technology allows loud audio, without it being blown out. Of course, this could be a feature you overlook altogether, but it’s as good feature to have when you need it.

Performance

Powering the OPPO Reno15 F 5G is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, sadly, the same chip used by the Reno14 F 5G and Reno13 F 5G. However, because of how close the two were introduced, it makes sense that they share a chipset without upgrading the chipset, which will come with a larger price increase.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is coupled with up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. If you have the budget, I recommend the maxed-out version with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, especially if you like playing games and storing a lot of videos and photos.

Here is how the OPPO Reno15 F 5G performed in various benchmarks, namely Geekbench, PCMark, 3DMark, and AnTuTu:

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is a pretty average chipset, and that’s not a bad thing. It offers a smooth experience with everyday things like reading emails, watching videos on YouTube or Netflix, and doomscrolling on social media.

As far as gaming goes, it still holds up with games like Honor of Kings and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. It easily handles them with the highest settings available. Honkai Star Rail and Call of Duty Mobile, though, you can get away with the highest settings, but there will be occasional frame drops.

If you’re more into heavier games like Genshin Impact and/or Wuthering Waves, the sweet spot is medium settings. If you want more graphical integrity, you can switch to High settings at 30 fps.

I can’t forget OPPO’s exclusive AI HyperBoost 2.0, which has two core features – AI-powered  Adaptive Temperature Control Algorithm and AI Adaptive Frame Rate Stabilisation Algorithm. These intelligently manage the hardware to offer a smoother gameplay experience.

That said, if you’re coming from the OPPO Reno14 F 5G and the Reno13 F 5G, expect that there’s a pretty small boost in performance, because it is the same chipset.

Camera

The OPPO Reno15 F 5G, being the most affordable device of the Reno15 Series 5G, has a downgrade in the camera department. It has a SmartSens SC543HS 50MP main sensor, accompanied by an 8MP ultrawide snapper and a 2MP depth sensor.

The configuration, basically, makes it a dual shooter, with the third being a support camera. That said, though, the 50MP main snapper is a pretty decent lens offering pretty good color reproduction and details. It can be pretty slow in dimmer settings, though, so be prepared to hold your phone and steady it a bit longer if you want to take clear photos.

The 8MP ultrawide is a pretty good addition to the camera system. It offers decent photos, especially if you want to show off a bit more of the landscape or the cityscape.

Where the OPPO Reno15 F 5G stays in line with the Reno15 Series 5G, is the front camera. It has the same wide 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor as the Reno15 5G and Reno15 Pro 5G. This is the widest front camera offered by OPPO, allowing you to include more elements in your selfies, whether that be the landscape or your friends and loved ones.

Overall, the camera system of the OPPO Reno15 F 5G is pretty decent. It won’t wow you, but it’s good enough for everyday photos, and if you’re just looking to take photos for social media.

Battery

I think the biggest selling point of the OPPO Reno15 F 5G within the Reno15 Series 5G and perhaps in the midrange market is its enormous 7000mAh battery. Coupled with this is its support for 80W SUPERVOOC charging.

OPPO Reno15 F 5G Review with charger

Before I get to my personal experience, here are the results of running the PCMark Battery Test on the three display modes, namely Adaptive, High (120Hz), and Standard (60Hz).

Display ModeTime
Adaptive Refresh Rate20 hr 20 min
High (120Hz)22 hr 1 min
Standard (60Hz)21 hr 10 min

I was quite surprised by how High outlasted the Standard mode, and I couldn’t quite put a finger on it. That said, though, I was impressed that it lasted beyond 20 hours across all modes. Based on my experience, this was pretty close, and it can last you a full workday and then some.

In case you do run out of battery in your day, the bundled 80W SUPERVOOC charger helps top up the battery pretty quickly. A 15-minute charge gave me around 20% battery, with a full charge taking less than an hour.

You’re bound to get a little fewer hours on the device if you play more games throughout the day, coupled with using mobile data and even using it as a hotspot device. But it’s still longer than other devices available today.

Software

The OPPO Reno15 F 5G runs on ColorOS 16 on top of Android 16 and features the all-new Trinity Engine. If you’ve read my previous reviews of OPPO devices, you’ll know by now that ColorOS 16 comes with quite a lot of bloatware, which I’m not the biggest fan of.

That said, though, ColorOS has grown to be among my favorite Android-based OS out there because of its customization options and variety of AI-powered features.

Among these features are Gemini and Gemini Live being baked in by default, and features like:

  • AI Call Summary
  • AI Call Translator
  • AI VoiceScribe
  • AI Recording
  • AI Translate

Additionally, there are photo editing additions like Photo Popout and AI Portrait Glow. Both allow you to spruce up your photos for social media. The former allows you to combine photos and popout one photo as a main highlight. Meanwhile, the latter allows you to allows yo you adjust the lighting in your photos with a single tap.

There’s also still AI Flash Photography 2.0 with Dual-Flash and Screen Flash for improved photos in low-light environments. Additionally, for content creators, there’s Dual-View Video, allowing you to capture videos from both the front and back cameras.

The last addition that the OPPO Reno15 F 5G is AI Mind Space that allows you to consolidate content seamlessly by using a three-finger swipe to save an item on-screen to your personal hub. This, though, has to be turned on first by going to Settings > AI > AI Mind Space.

Verdict

The OPPO Reno15 F 5G is an interesting device. On one hand, some devices could match it, or more. But on the other hand, it stands out amongst its siblings as a reliable daily driver with its massive 7000mAh battery.

As I mentioned earlier in the review, if you’re coming from the last two predecessors of the Reno15 F 5G, you can probably skip this, unless you want the small update, or stay up to date with software and security updates, or maybe just want the enormous battery cell. The massive upgrade in the battery department, in itself, though, is enough if the budget is there.

The OPPO Reno15 F 5G starts at PHP 23,999 for just 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and this is an online exclusive. If you want to get it at a physical store, you can get it for PHP 25,999 (8GB+256GB) or PHP 28,999 (12GB+512GB). This price point, though, could be a massive barrier for many people, especially those looking for an upgrade.

That said, though, if you decide to purchase the Reno15 F 5G by February 26, 2026, there are a lot of freebies you can enjoy. You can read more about them here

The OPPO Reno15 F 5G is as average as it gets with its decent camera system and chipset. However, if you’re looking for a device that can become a daily driver and last you an entire day of use, even with a sprinkle of mobile gaming, the OPPO Reno15 F 5G is worth checking out.

If you’re coming from the Reno13 F 5G and older and want to stay in the OPPO ecosystem, then I think this is worth the upgrade. Yes, even with the bump in price.
