Meta may be planning to launch its first smartwatch as early as 2026. According to industry reports, the tech giant has revived a project internally codenamed “Malibu 2,” marking a major comeback after halting its initial hardware ambitions in 2022.
Meta Smartwatch Project coming in 2026?
The upcoming device is expected to integrate advanced health-tracking features and a dedicated Meta AI assistant. Experts suggest the watch could eventually replace the neural wristband currently used to control the company’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, creating a more seamless, hands-free interface for users.

This strategic move by the company follows the unexpected success of its AI-powered eyewear, as the company plans to introduce a “wrist-worn computer” to compete with the Apple Watch and Google’s Pixel Watch. Although a release date has not been officially confirmed, the device is anticipated to launch alongside the next generation of smart glasses.
