HUAWEI is reportedly expanding its experimental Pura X lineup with a new non-folding version, aiming to bring the series’ unique “widescreen” experience to a traditional slab-style form factor.

HUAWEI Pura X Variant Coming Soon?

According to recent leaks, this upcoming device will ditch the clamshell hinge of the original Pura X but retain its distinctive wide aspect ratio. The device is expected to feature a 16:10 ratio. This design prioritizes media consumption and productivity, offering a mini-tablet feel that reduces letterboxing in videos and provides more horizontal space for web browsing.

The move follows the success of the foldable Pura X, which users praised for its 6.3-inch inner display that felt larger than competing flip phones. By removing the complex folding mechanism, HUAWEI could offer this phone at a more competitive price point while improving durability and reducing weight.

Specifications are expected to be the same as the flagship series, likely including a Kirin 9020 chipset, a high-fidelity RYYB camera system, and the latest HarmonyOS. If the rumors hold, Huawei is betting that a segment of the market is ready to trade slim ergonomics for a more expansive, cinematic handheld experience.

No official release date has been set, but the device is expected to debut in China before an international rollout.
