Introduction

The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses deliver open-ear audio in a lightweight frame suited for awareness-focused listening during walks or light work. Priced starting at PHP 10,999, they blend style with practical features like call handling and recording.

Design and Build Quality

Weighing 32.4g without lenses (39.1g with) for this Browline variant, the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses prioritize all-day comfort and rigid construction with a stainless steel and nylon frame that feels solid yet unobtrusive.

It boasts an IP54 rating for handling splashes and dust adequately and supports prescription lenses. Should you not need to replace the lenses, the default ones offer 25% blue light filtering for eye protection.

While the touch panels on each arm respond reliably for controls, the glossy finish means that they’re prone to catching fingerprints, which may warrant frequent wipes.

I also wish that they included a hardshell case instead of a soft pouch, as those leave the glasses vulnerable to damage in bags.

Performance

Mijia Smart Audio Glasses Review (37)

While not for immersive listening, the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses are able to deliver crisp vocals, airy treble, and modest bass that suits pop, K-pop, or podcasts without overwhelming ambient sounds, making them ideal for street walks or cafe sessions.

There are four mics for clear calls via smart noise cancellation and 4.5m/s wind resistance, along with dual-device pairing for seamless switches; privacy mode curbs leakage effectively at moderate volumes. Sound leaks noticeably at max volume in quiet settings, and immersion lags behind earbuds.

The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses should work well even in noisy environments, such as roadside with passing cars, but you’ll have to crank the volume up.

Call quality is excellent as well, with microphone performance far exceeding my personal expectations for this type of device. Here’s a sample conversation between me and my mom. This was recorded using the call recording feature from the app.

In case you’re wondering, here’s how a non-call recording will sound.

Software

The Xiaomi Glasses app provides gesture customization for the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses. You can assign functions for single, double taps, or holds for playback, calls, recording, or firing up your voice assistant. There’s also device management and find-my-glasses beeps.

You can also enable or disable Wear detection and standby tweaks enhance usability across Android and iOS, with voice assistant integration adding hands-free convenience.

While still a beta feature, notification reading works, though the app does note that there could be some glitches. You can do an on-the-spot voice recording using the glasses, but you’ll have to export the file to your phone’s storage (can be done within the app) to listen to it.

Battery

Mijia Smart Audio Glasses Review (56)

The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses’ custom steel-shell battery yields up to 13 hours music or 9 hours calls, with our real-world tests hitting 18-19 hours of mixed use, including around 10 hours of music playback, around 8 hours of standby, and a few minutes of calls. Of course, your mileage may vary depending on several factors. Charging to full will take around an hour, which isn’t bad at all.

It’s important to take note that the package only contains the magnetic charging cable for the glasses, and you’ll need to connect the other end of that to a USB-C cable that will then be connected to a wall charger or a power bank.

Mijia Smart Audio Glasses – Verdict

The Mijia Smart Audio Glasses offer a compelling package for those who are looking for an open-design solution in a stylish, lightweight form factor. Starting at PHP 10,999, these glasses punch above their weight with responsive touch controls, well-balanced sound featuring crisp vocals and airy treble, and real-world battery life reaching 18-19 hours of mixed usage.

Using the companion app, you get solid customization for gestures, device management, and features like wear detection and find-my-glasses which can be very useful for certain situations.

That being said, Xiaomi can probably do better with the packaging and include a hardshell case instead of a pouch. Apart from the arms being a fingerprint magnet, you can also accidentally trigger actions if you hold it on the wrong part. As for the sound, a bit of boost on the low-end would’ve been nice.

Other features like the IP54 rating, and privacy mode are just icing on top of the cake which makes the deal even sweeter. I mean, sure, you don’t get the camera of say the Ray-Ban Meta, but for a fraction of the cost, I’m not complaining.
