Huawei has just unveiled the HUAWEI Mate 80 series in China. The new high-end smartphone series features a new design, high-quality camera, new chipsets, and improved perfomance.
The series consists of four devices – the HUAWEI Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, Mate 80 Pro Max, and Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design.
HUAWEI Mate 80 Series
The HUAWEI Mate 80 series features a flat design with a circular camera module around the back joined by a glossy circle below it to highlight its wireless charging coil.
The circular design is strictly for the Mate 80, Mate 80 Pro, and Mate 80 Pro Max, though. The HUAWEI Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design continues to feature a octagonal camera island.

The camera system of the HUAWEI Mate 80 series is suppored by Huawei’s XMAGE algorithm and have a physical aperture. Moreover, on the front is a selfie camera with a ToF sensing camera for 3D facial recognition.

The HUAWEI Mate 80 is powered by the Kirin 9020, while the rest of its siblings are equipped with the latest Kirin 9030 series chipsets. The Kirin 9030 comes in two variants – the Kirin 9030 and the Kirin 9030 Pro. The HUAWEI Mate 80 RS Ultimate comes with a whopping 20GB RAM along with the Kirin 9030 Pro.
The HUAWEI Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro are built around a 6.75-inch LTPO OLED panel, while the Mate 80 Pro Max and Mate 80 RS Ultimate Design are larger with their 6.9-inch LTPO OLED panel.
The displays of the HUAWEI Mate 80 series feature 120Hz refresh rates, high-frequency PWM dimming, and up to 8000 nits of peak brightness.

As far as batteries go, the Pro Max and RS Ultimate Design feature a 6000mAh cell, while the smaller base and Pro versions have a 5750mAh battery. They all support 100W wired fast charging, 80W wireless charging, and 20W wireless reverse charging.
The HUAWEI Mate 80 series runs on HarmonyOS 6 and rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance.
