After leaks and speculations, the HUAWEI Mate 70 Air is now official in China.The Air is the Huawei’s take on the growing slim smartphone market, joining devices like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, iPhone Air, and TECNO SPARK Slim.
HUAWEI Mate 70 Air
The HUAWEI Mate 70 Air stands out against other slim smartphones by offering a large AMOLED display at 7 inches, compared to the 6.7-inch panels of its competitors.
The Mate 70 Air panel features a 2760×1320 resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate. It houses an 10.7MP snapper on the front for selfies.
Another differentiator is the quadruple camera setup around the back with a 50MP main snapper, a 12MP RYYB telephoto lens, an 8MP ultrawide camera, and a 1.5MP color sensor.
However, it does mean that the HUAWEI Mate 70 Air is the thickest of the Air and Slim devices in the market, with its 6.6mm body. The photos of the device, though, still look pretty sleek and slender still.
The Mate 70 Air is powered by two variants of the Kirin 9020 chipset, depending on the RAM. The 12GB RAM variant is powered by the Kirin 9020A, while the 16GB RAM has the Kirin 9020B at the helm. These two share the same core configuration and built on the 7nm process of SMIC. The Kirin 9020B offers slightly better performance thanks to faster clock speed and power optimizations.
The Air device from Huawei also offers a massive 6500mAh silicon-carbon anode battery. This is drastically larger than 3900mAh on the Galaxy S25 Edge and even the 5160mAh cell of the TECNO Spark Slim.
The Mate 70 Air is also rated IP68 and IP69 for water and dust resistance as well as protected wtih Kunlun Glass on the front.

The HUAWEI Mate 70 Air is available in three colors – Obisidian Black, White Feather Robe, and Gold and Silver Brocade.
It is now available in China via the HUAWEI Online Store and it comes in four variants, priced at:
- 12GB+256GB – CNY 4,199 (around PHP 34,800)
- 16GB+256GB – CNY 4,699 (around PHP 39,000)
- 12GB+512GB – CNY 4,699 (around PHP 39,000)
- 16GB+512GB – CNY 5,199 (around PHP 43,100)
As of writing this, Huawei hasn’t revealed if it will be introduced in the global market but we hope it will.
The company has historically made its innovative devices available in the global market. An example of this is sthe HUAWEI Mate XT. We hope this will be the same case for the HUAWEI Mate 70 Air.
